Tim Grover writes in his book Relentless,
"Ask yourself honestly, what would you have to sacrifice to have what you really want? Your social life? Relationships? Credit Cards? Free time? Sleep? Now answer this question: What are you willing to sacrifice? If those two lists don’t match, you don’t want it badly enough…Part of the commitment to hard work is knowing what you have to give up to do the work."
The problem with great feats is they require you to miss out on other great things. The amount of sacrifice you have to make to chase a dream or a lofty ambition is what scares people away.
Sometimes you'll have to compromise your sleep and health. Sometimes you'll have to relationships and social life. You might have to put yourself in a financial pinch. Are you willing to do that?
There is no right answer, only you can decide. Just know that there are other people out there in your profession who are willing to sacrifice everything for that one thing. If you aren't willing to get to their level or get close to it by sacrificing many things, the competition is going to smoke you.
Thank you for reading. The best way you can support is to share this with at least one person.
